The Gottlieb Native Garden: A Closer Look
"Focus Stacked"
Through a macro photography technique called focus stacking, Scott Logan reveals the unseen and provides "A Closer Look" of Fauna and Flora found in Susan and Dan Gottlieb's magnificent Los Angeles garden. Each of these extraordinary photos is achieved by exposing up to 240 individual shots of the subject at different focal points. Because these are live animals, the smallest movement destroys the composition and the whole process must begin again. Once a good set of images is collected, then painstakingly process of editing them together begins. In the end, it can take over 30 hours to create one mesmerizing detailed photograph.
